Product details

This resource is a collaboration between Diabetes NSW & ACT and the NSW Combined Children's Services Diabetes Dietitians group, which covers healthy eating patterns and food choices for young people living with diabetes. It provides guidance on which foods are nutrient-dense and which are less so, and how carbohydrate dense food can directly affect blood glucose levels.

  • Front page visualises the five core nutrient-dense food groups, healthier fats, and water intake
  • Inside pages focus on carbohydrate-rich foods, those that are nutrient dense and those less so, which have been colour-coded to denote the difference
  • The last page covers protein and fat-rich foods, and non-carb (starchy) vegetables

This resource is a great nutrition, health, and diabetes management teaching tool for health professionals to use with young people newly diagnosed with diabetes, as well as their families and support systems. It provides information on the importance of nutrient-dense foods, with a focus on where carbohydrates can be found within those choices.

This resource comes in a pack of 50 flyers.
