Product Description
This new booklet from Diabetes NSW provides a pictorial guide to Resistance Training using simple resistance bands (such as Thera-band). This training program has been developed by Diabetes NSW physiologists specifically for people with diabetes to provide a low impact exercise program. It's designed to help increase the body’s strength, power and muscular endurance by adding increased resistance to normal movements.

What are resistance bands?
Resistance bands are elasticised bands made from natural rubber latex. They are very useful as an aide for resistance training and can be used by anyone. Resistance bands also come in a variety of colours. The different colours correspond to a different level of resistance and ability. 

This handy booklet also includes a section for goal setting, an activity planner and a training log.

I have a red resistance band, what strength is that one? Elaine

Hi Elaine. The Red Theraband is a Medium Resistance Band. If you would like to talk to a Diabetes NSW Exercise Physiologist about which band is best for you, please give us a call on 1300 136 588.

How do I determine what colour band is suitable for me?

The colours are based on the resistance strength of the band with Yellow being the 'easiest' and Black being the 'hardest', to get information on which band is right for you, call 1300 136 588 and ask to speak with a Diabetes NSW Exercise Physiologist.
